How Cleaning your HVAC Compressor can save you money

Cleaning Your HVAC Compressor Can Save You Money

There are some things that we all take for granted, and at work, one of those is the HVAC system. When it’s cold we expect the heating to work, and when it’s warm, we turn up the air conditioner. When something stops working, it is usually when we need it most, and then it becomes a company crisis as the search for someone who can fix things at this very moment is in dire need.

How does an HVAC Compressor work?

Before we look at why cleaning your commercial compressor can save you money, it’s important to understand what an HVAC compressor does and how it works. The compressor is at the heart of your commercial HVAC system, and it comprises of three parts. The compressor itself, the coils and the evaporator. Inside, the commercial compressor passes refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser coils, and this is how the air is cooled.

The refrigerant cools the coils, which in turn lowers the temperature of the air passing through the system, providing the air conditioning you are looking for. During that process, the refrigerant turns from liquid to gas as it removes the heat from the air. That refrigerant gas is then shifted to the evaporator by the compressor, where it is turned into a liquid again.

If the compressor fails, then you are left without the comforts of your air conditioning, and you are back to looking for an emergency repair. There are some things you can do to avoid that kind of situation though. In fact, regular cleaning of your commercial HVAC compressor can not only avoid that, but save your company money as well.

Breakdowns are expensive

If you have ever been in the position where you are in need of an emergency HVAC repair, and most of us have, you know that it can become quite costly. This is where regular maintenance, such as cleaning the HVAC compressor, can save you money. With regular cleaning, the compressor will provide years of reliable service, saving on repairs and costing less money in the long run.

Not only that, but a professional cleaning of your HVAC compressor also allows the technician to check over the system, spotting potential problems early on. It is much easier, and cheaper, to replace a filter or other components before failure occurs, than it is to deal with replacing it and the damages it caused after failure. This approach also means you are not left without your HVAC system when you need it most.

Improved efficiency

Preventing failures and saving on repair costs is not the only way that cleaning your commercial HVAC compressor can save money, it also helps the system run more efficiently. Cleaning the coils allows them to transfer heat better, meaning the system simply doesn’t have to work as hard to achieve the cooling you want, and that reduces energy costs. As we all know energy costs continue to rise, so that saving could add up long-term.

With the system not having to work so hard, there is another benefit too. A less stressed system means less wear and tear, so less maintenance. The savings keep on coming, and all for a regular cleaning of your HVAC compressor.Whatever brand or style of HVAC system you have, keeping the compressor clean can make significant savings on maintenance and running costs, plus save you a lot of hassle in avoiding failures. With an experienced, professional company like Compressors Unlimited, you get better cooling, lower costs and increased reliability.
